TOLEDO - Lindsey Eugene Childress, 62, of Toledo died at 7 p.m. Thursday (May 26, 1994) at the Mattoon Health Care Center.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Springhill Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Fayette County. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery with graveside military rites. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Barkley Funeral Home in Toledo.

He was born Feb. 29, 1932, in Decatur, the son of Jesse and Vada Wright Childress. He married Ruth Brown in 1971; she survives.

Also surviving are two sons, David Childress and Philip Childress, both of Beecher City; three stepsons, Michael High, Steven High and Robert Lewis, all of California; a daughter, Diane Perry of Homer; a stepdaughter, Deborah Carter of Collison; two brothers, Nelson Childress of Windsor and Wayne Childress of Brownstown; five sisters, Lydia Beck of Beecher City, Dorothy Rhodes of Vandalia, Mary Watson of Fairfield, and Sleeta Dively and Lenora Parkison, both of Brownstown; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.
