Death last night claimed George W. Hawk, for almost a century a resident of the Kiski Valley and one of the oldest persons in the district.
The Paulton resident, born on Independence Day in 1844, died yesterday at 9:20 in his home. He was 94 years of age at the time of his death.
It is believed that Mr. Hawk is probably the oldest resident of the Valley from the standpoint of time spent here without question. He was born in or near Leechburg and has resided within the confines of the Valley all of his life.
Apollo was still Warren and the old canal ran parallel with the river on the day almost a century ago when Samuel and Eliza (Eckman?) Hawk added tot heir family with the addtion of the man who ended his long life last night.
Survivors include Mrs. G. E. Ament, Mrs. L.R. Shockey, Miss Edith Hawk and A.W. Hawk. ALso surviving are 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Paulton residence with Rev. C.W. Cochran of Apollo FIrst Presbyterian Church in charge. Burial will be in Apollo Cemetery.
