Seaside, OR. Died at Seaside Providence Hospital. Born in Spencer, NE to Anton Bazar and Mary Wasielewski. Education: Bachelor in Nursing (South Chicago School of Nursing), Masters in Nursing Education (Univ of Oregon). In 1941, she married Captain Jack Batty, Army Air Corps (KIA WWII 1944). In 1947 she married James Metzger (died 1984). In 1985 she married Albert Wahlman (deceased 1999). She lived in Clatsop County area, Seaside, OR for 9 years. She was in the U.S. Army (rank of Lt) 1940-1941 (had to request discharge due to marriage to an officer). Genevieve was a career registered nurse. She worked in public health, hospitals, nursing homes and doctor office clinics. She returned to school to obtain her Masters degree in nursing education at age 50, then taught at Emanuel School of Nursing in Portland, OR. Memberships include Our Lady of Victory Seaside OR, Gresham Woman of Elks Past President. Her interests were traveling and continuing education. Survived by daughters Janice Metzger, Seaside, OR, Marsha McVey, Warrenton, OR, Mary Metzger, Rwanda, Africa, Amelia Metzger, Astoria; brother George Bazar, Omaha NE; 4 grandchildren Lori Enders, Zimbabwe, Africa, Steve (Mary) Wisher, Gresham, OR, Mark Steele, Astoria, Nicole McVey, Phoenix, AZ; 5 great grandchildren Delfino (Kristin) Ruiz, Beaverton, OR, Michael Ruiz, Seaside, OR, John Ruiz Cozma, Astoria, Marcus Enders, Gladstone, John Enders, Chandler AZ, Tina Steele, Mesa AZ, Madison and Derek Wisher, Gresham; 5 great-great-grandchildren Kaila and Brooklin Ruiz, Beaverton, OR, Marquise, Tre and Tianna Steele, Mesa AZ. Preceded in death by 3 husbands (Jack Batty, James Metzger & Albert Wahlman); granddaughter Brenda Ruiz; brothers John and Frank Bazar; sisters Mary Bazar, Julia Ruf, Henrietta Burkhart, Helen Mullen and Frances Bazar.
Funeral services Saturday September 3rd at 1pm at at Hughes Ransom Mortuary Seaside OR. Refreshments will be served at a reception following. Genevieve will be buried with her husband of 37 years, James Metzger, at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. The date is yet to be determined.
