Mr. Brady's father, John was one of the first settlers of Cass county. John Brady married Mary Jackson in his native Kentucky. They had nine children, William being the seventh.
When William was five, the family moved to Cass county which is on the Kansas/Missouri border. There, on 20 January 1858 William married Sophia Haydon of Boone county Kentucky. They had at least two children, Ann and Lurline. In 1862 William enlisted in the Confederate service, Capt. A. Bradley's company.
