Grant W. Stewart, of Port Huron, died Thursday, June 28, 2001 of pneumonia.

He was born Feb. 16, 1937 in Yale, to the late Walter and Edna Steward.

During his years as a young adult, he was a sailor on the freighters of the Great Lakes, but most of his family and friends will remember the years he spent as a brick mason in the local area. His love for his trade was recounted in the stories he told of helping to build the McMorran Tower, Buff's Car Wash and St. Edwards Catholic Church. He was especially proud of the altar he helped create there. He was a life long fan of professional football and of country music and the stories they tell. Both of these loves brought him a great deal of pleasure.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Mark Bowen of Port Huron; his daughter, Sharon Stewart and her fiancé, Joe Posey of East China Township; his son and
daughter-in-law, Scott and Kathy Stewart of Fenton; two grandchildren, Andrew and Kimberly Bowen; one step-grandson, Parker Woods; sister, Janet and the late Ted Andrews; brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Irene Steward and Robert and Karen Steward; and several nieces and nephews.

Grant will also be missed by those who cared for his needs over the past several years, especially Mr. Bob Hepting.

Cremation arrangements are by Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. at 17th Street.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider M.A.D.D. (Mother's Against Drunk Driving).

"You are resting peacefully...in our minds and hearts."
