Weaver, farmer, distiller and businessman; a son of Henrich Oberholtzer (1739-1813) and Anna Beitler (1745-1835) from Bucks County, PA. Abraham made a distinctive Pennsylvania rye whiskey at Overton Farm, West Overton, PA, and later at the A. Overholt & Company distillery complex at Broad Ford, PA. He was a master distiller, whose product was later known as OLD OVERHOLT. Arriving by wagon train in the summer of 1800, the extended Henrich Oberholtzer/Henry Overholt family were among the first permanent settlers of East Huntingdon Township in Westmoreland County, PA.
