Girard, Dec. 16 - George W. Bowersox died here at 9:20 last night of typhoid fever, aged 48 years. Deceased was prominently known over this section of the state, having been county superintendent of schools of this county one term. He also held the office of supervisor from this townhship for two terms. At the time of his death he was city attorney. His obsequies will be under the auspices of the Masonic lodge of which he was a prominent member. Deceased was a bachelor, and has made his home with relatives. His jovial disposition and kind heart made him a favorite with all classes of people, old and young, and his death is deeply deplored. IL State Register, Springfield, IL 12-17-1899
