BENJAMIN HENRY STARK was born May 21, 1872 in Mankato, Blue Earth County, Minnesota to Christian and Amelia Meyers Stark both of German descent. At the age of 14 he left Minnesota on the Great Northern freight train and worked his way to Oregon. For a time he was a carpenter building ocean going log rafts, and also worked at the ship yards in Washington. He lived in Oak Point for a time and raised his family in Stella, WA. He was a carpenter and built many homes in Portland, Oregon.

He married Rosina Bernice Atkins in Hillsboro, Oregon in 1892. The couple are the parents of 6 children: Harry B. born 1893, Lura (Ems) born 1896, Raleigh born in 1897, Benjamin G. born in 1899, Velma (Heimel) born in 1908 and Vivian (Myers) born in 1915.

Benjamin is survived by his wife, Rose and daughters, Lura, Velma and Vivian and son Benjamin G, 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. His son, Harry died in 1917 serving in WWI.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 pm at Finley's Rose Chapel, on SW Montgomery. Friends are invited. Commitment at Riverview Cemetery.
