Alta (Johnson) Gano, 96, Russiaville, passed from this life at 6:20 a.m., Monday, March 31, 2008 at St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis, IN. She was born in Ervin Township, Howard County, IN, on Nov. 19, 1911. Alta was the daughter of Rufus and Pearl (Stafford) Johnson. She married Carl E. Gano Feb. 20, 1937, and he preceded her in death on June 23, 1974.

Alta was a homemaker. She prayed for her family and friends and read her Bible daily.

Surviving is one daughter, Carolyn Williams and her husband, Dwight of Carmel, IN; grandson, Kent (Barbara)Williams and great grandson, Caleb Williams, all of Galveston,IN; granddaughter Carla and her husband Neal,two great-granddaughters, Beth and Laura, all of Westfield, IN.
