HITCHCOCK—Mr. Titus Elbert Dickens passed from this life Friday afternoon, September 16, 2005, in Webster, after a brave 4 year battle with Alzheimer's. Born October 30, 1929, in Livingston, Texas, Mr. Dickens had been a resident of Hitchcock since 1979. He had been in the printing business for many years, having founded Dickens Printing Co. in Houston in 1950. He became an Ordained Minister and, after his move to Hitchcock, he became active with the Hitchcock Lions Club and Texas City Rotary Club and joined Abundant Life Christian Center. He taught printing at Hitchcock ISD in 1980 and 1981, owned and operated Sterling Lighthouse Printing until his retirement in 1991 and remained a member of both the Hitchcock and Texas City-La Marque Chambers of Commerce in addition to Printers Industries of America.

Preceded in death by his son, Michael Dickens, brothers, Escar and Leon, sisters, Sara Hughes and Peralee Harper, survivors include his wife of 34 years. Kathy Dickens of Hitchcock; children, Janice and Steve Duncan of Curtice, OH; Tony and Ellen Dickens of Rockford, IL; Monica and Michael Harvey of Houston; step-children, Gina and Jason Wood of Magnolia; Britton and Gina Brown of Hitchcock; and Cheri and Mauro Rodriguez of Hitchcock; brother, Dick Dickens of Houston; sister, Mardria Anderson of Lindale; 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2005, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, Pastor Walter Hallam officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Joshua Brown, Jason Dickens, Zachary Harvey, Steven Jackson, Joe Mireles and Robert Rodriguez.

Honorary bearers will be Tomas Medellin, Jr., and Eric Mireles, Sr.
