MRS. DIANA McGEE

Mrs. Diana McGee died at the home of her son, Jiles McGee, near Lucas, Iowa, on Friday evening, December 20, 1935, at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 7 days. Funeral services were held the following Monday afternoon at the Baptist church in Humeston, and burial was in the Humeston cemetery.

Diana Caroline Rayburn was born in Davis county, Iowa, on July 13, 1857. Her young womanhood was spent in and near Davis county. She was married on June 7, 1873, to Joel W. McGee. To this union eleven children were born. After her marriage she and her husband moved to Wayne county and lived in or near there until some time after her husband's death in April, 1910. For a number of years she had made her home with her children.

She was converted and united with the Baptist church about thirty-nine years ago under the ministry of Rev. M. S. Clark, and it was her joy and delight to attend the church services and take an active part. She enjoyed making new acquaintances and meeting old friends, who were numbered by those who knew her. She possessed a happy disposition and did all in her power to make the lives of those about her comfortable, often neglecting herself.

Mrs. McGee suffered a heart attack on July 28, 1934, and was ill for many weeks, but regained her strength partially and was able to be about. On Dec. 11 she sustained a stroke, but knew those about her and was able to converse until a few hours before she was called to her eternal home on Dec. 20. Everything possible was done for her during her illness which she greatly appreciated. She was very patient, never complaining. She expressed her readiness and willingness to go if it was the Savior's wish.

She leaves to mourn her going seven sons and three daughters, Gart McGee, of Norfolk, Nebr.; Mrs. Lillie Mae Oliver and Cliff McGee, of Chariton; James McGee and Jiles McGee, of Osceola; Mrs. Cora Amanda Hart, of Woodburn; Fred McGee, of Council Bluffs; Bert McGee, of Humeston; Ernest McGee, of Allerton; Mrs. Phena Belle Leech, of Humeston. Her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Sarah Melinda Fuller, preceded her in death. Twenty-two grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one brother, Will Rayburn, of Kansas, are also living.
