G.H.Haff Dead
News came here last Friday morning announcing the death of G.H. Haff, at Olsburg, on that morning. It was a shock to the citizens of the town, who were unaware of his sickness, and to others of his friends here. He died of pueumonia, at 4:30 o'clock, April 29, 1904.
Gotfried H. Haff was born in Sweeden, Feb. 12, 1856, and came to America in 1871, locating at Chanute, Kansas. At that place, in April, 1884, he was united in marriage with Miss Hulda Cedarstam. To this union five children were born, four of them, together with the widow, surviving him.
In 1890 he came to Olsburg and embarked in the general merchandising business in which he was engaged at the time of his death. He proved an accommodating and successful business man, progressive, and as a citizen will be greatly missed.
The funeral services were held at the Sweedish Lutheran church, Rev. Anderson officiating. It is said to be the largest funeral ever held in the town--over one hundred from Randolph alone attending. Peace to his ashes. (D.A.E.,6 May 1904, Westmoreland, Kansas)
