Cecil A. Williams, 72, of rural Slater, a native of Marceline, died Wednesday, May 5, 1993, at his home. Services were held Friday afternoon, May 7, at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater with the Rev. Luther Smith officiating. Burial was at Frankfort Cemetery.

Mr. Williams was born May 14, 1920 in Marceline to Jesse J. and Bessie (Pope) Williams. On June 22, 1946, in Kansas City, Kan., he married Rosie Lee Miles, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Alvin Williams, Slater; three grandsons, five sisters, Sylvia George, Omaha, Neb., Leola Newton, Slater, Wanda Hannon, Marshall, Edith Kieffer, Brunswick and Betty Boston, Gilliam.

He was a member of the Slater United Methodist church. Mr. Williams served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 78. He was retired from Standard Havens of Glasgow.
