Attended University of California at Berkeley, as a student was active member of Beta Theta Pi, as was his father and brothers. Was a stockbroker from 1922 - 1934. During the 1930's, he founded Onox Inc., a medical company. Loved sailing and the outdoors. Was a longtime member of the Sierra Club. Also a member of the prestigious Bohemian and Commonwealth Clubs, The California Historical Society and the Society of California Pioneers. Was the National Director of the Campfire Girls, which he took an interest in when his daughter was young. His first wife was Louise Haas, born Louisville, Ky., June 24,1890, daughter of William A. Haas and Nellie Harris. Four children were born to this marriage. they divorced June 28, 1923. Ruth died in Brentwood, California.
