Ralph Dennis Brooksher passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2010. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel. Brother Kim Hayes, Bible Baptist Church, will be officiating.

Ralph was born on July 11, 1922, in Blanchard, Oklahoma, the son of Homer J. and Willie Ann (Nelson) Brooksher. He spent most of his life in Chickasha. He was a retired painter and woodworker who took great pride in his work. After retiring, Ralph enjoyed gardening, fishing, and OU football. As time progressed, his macular degeneration took away his vision, yet he still found ways to enjoy life by listening to his OU Sooners and keeping up with world events and politics on the TV or radio.

Ralph and Theda Faye Anglin were married on March 30, 1942 in Chickasha.

Ralph was preceded in death by both parents; two brothers, J.W. and Clovis Vaughn; sisters Irma Inez Brooksher and Mary Opal Hefner; two sons Harold Dean Brooksher and Bobby Joe Brooksher; a grandson, Dustin Wayne Brooksher; and a great-grandson, Dakota Steven Burnes.

Survivors include his wife, Theda Faye Brooksher; sister LaVelle Phillips of Fresno, CA; three sons and daughter-in-law, Donald and Sundra of Edmond; Ronnie of Mustang; Jimmy of Littleton, CO; one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Martin Burnes of Chickasha; two grandsons, Shane Burnes of Chickasha and Brad Brooksher and wife Alicia of Edmond; three granddaughters, Ronda Dawson and husband Jerrod of Plano, TX; Jennifer Burnes of Norman; and Lauren Brooksher of Littleton, CO; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Interment will be at Laverty Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral home.
