He is honored with the Purple Heart.
Fireman First Class Eugene P. Andersen, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Andersen of 412 South Twenty-second street, will arrive in Council Bluffs Monday afternoon and will lie in state at the Meyer funeral home. He was killed in action in Sicily on August 6, 1943.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. (article appeared in August 1, 1948 issue of Council Bluffs Nonpareil), in the Meyer Chapel. The Rev. M. D. Summerbell, pastor of the Epworth Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Cedar Lawn cemetery. Members of VFW Post No. 737 will conduct military rites.
Other survivors include two sisters: Mrs. Juanita Allen and Miss Leona Andersen; two brothers, Norman C. Andersen and Roger L. Andersen, all of Council Bluffs.
