"Mrs. I.L. Hanson Called by Death
Death came unexpectedly and was a shock to the community
When the death of Mrs. Ivar Hanson was told around the village on Tuesday morning of this week, it cast a gloom like a black cloud over the village. It was known that Mrs. Hanson had been ailing for some time, but it was also said around town that she was better and she had made the remarks that she soon expected to get out of bed.
After she gave birth to a child about a month ago, she was getting well, but later she was taken sick with pneumonia and even this she seemed to be over. It was expected that she would soon be up and around, but on Monday night she was taken suddenly sick and Mr. Hanson went and called a doctor, but she died before the doctor arrived. She had been troubled with a weak heart for some time and that was the immediate cause of her death.
Hilda Marie Olson was born at New London, this state, on October 16, 1898, and she was at the time of her death 37 years, 2 months, and one day old. She was, prior to her marriage, a member of the Nordland Congregation of Irving, this state, and in the church of that congregation she was confirmed.
On July 6, 1918, at Minneapolis, she was united in marriage to Ivar Lund Hanson. They resided in Minneapolis during the time that Mr. Hanson was in camp during the World War, and after he came back in 1919, they moved to Ross, in Roseau County, where Mr. Hanson was operating a creamery. The following year, in 1920, they moved to Fourtown, this state, where they were until June 30, 1925, when they came here, and they made their home ever since.
She was the mother of seven children. Two proceeded her in death - Arthur Vincent and an infant (Jerome). Those who survive her are Irene, Dolores, Esther, Sydney, and Gerald Dennis, the infant baby.
She is also survived by her husband (Ivar) and by her father, Peder Olson of New London, and by the following sisters and brothers: Nora (Mrs. Ole Midstrom) of Houston, Texas; Dagney (Mrs. Andy Forsyth) of Manida, Montana; Ida (Mrs. Harry Peterson) of Grove City, Minnesota; Olga Olson of St. Paul, Minnesota; Emily Olson, St. Peter; Inga (Mrs. Emil Johnson), New London; Oswald and Conrad Olson of Houston, Texas; Palmer Olson of Minneapolis; Melvin Olson of Paynesville; and Carl Olson of New London, Minnesota.
After coming here the deceased and her family soon identified themselves with the Lutheran Church in this village and she was one of the willing workers of the Ladies Aid and in other church activities, and she will be missed in her activities in this village as well as by her many friends. She was a person with a likable disposition and she, by her untimely death, leaves a vacancy in this village which will be felt, not only by her family, but by her many friends.
The funeral will take place from the church in this village this afternoon, December 21, 1935, from the house at 1:00 and from the church at 1:30, and the remains will be laid to rest in the cemetery of the St. Petri Church near the village.
The sorrow stricken family have the sympathy of their many friends in this, their bereavement and sorrow."
