Daisy Geraldine Bitler Kline Carr

Wife of Leonard F. Kline until his death in 1940.
Wife of William Franklin Carr who died in 2001. They were married on Sept. 28, 1942.

Daisy G. Carr, 91, formerly of 26 Grand St., Danville, PA, passed away Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011, at Emmanuel Nursing Center at Maria Joseph, Danville. She had also resided at Heritage Heights in Danville.

Daisy was a devoted homemaker and an Avon lady for 30 years in the Danville area. She enjoyed scrapbooking and organizing photo albums. She also enjoyed various crafts, which included needlework. She was an excellent storyteller. She was an excellent cook who learned how to make “Padogies” from Mrs. Coleanus from Russia. Daisy shared this recipe with all her children, grandchildren and anybody who wanted to learn how to make them.

Daisy was born Nov. 23, 1919, in Montour County, PA, the daughter of the late Howard Reuben and Olive Viola Golder Bitler.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Leonard F. Kline and William F. Carr. William and Daisy were married for 58 years. She was also preceded in death by one son, John Franklin Kline; a grandson, Chadwick Alan Carr; and two brothers, Robert and Raymond Bitler.

She is survived by one son, Robert William Carr and his wife Cathi of Wicomico Church, VA; five daughters, Gloria Ann Hans and her husband Donald of Danville, PA; Barbara Lee Minnick and her husband Carl of Danville, PA; Janet Marie Gemberling and her husband Gary of Lewisburg, PA; Nancy Arlene Carr of Monroe, NC, and Eileen Fay Hettinger and her husband Timothy of Sunbury, PA; daughter-in-law, Shirley Dawn Kline of South Lyon, MI.

Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, as well as several great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Gordon Bitler of Danville, PA, and one sister, Romayne Swisher of Montgomery, PA. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, at Visneski Funeral Home Inc., 10 W. Mahoning St., Danville, PA, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Craig D. Laidacker, Bloomsburg Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Elan Memorial Park in Bloomsburg. Friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
