Arville C. Hodgson, 78, of West Grove died Saturday, December 23, 2006 at the Heartland Hospice, Wilmington, DE.

He was the husband of Nancy Lizzie Mae Stanley Hodgson with whom he shared 46 years of marriage.

Born in West Jefferson, NC, he was the son of the late McKinley and Myrtle Sheets Hodgson.

Arville was employed with Oxford Royal in Kelton. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, flowers, woodworking, cooking and especially spending time with his wife and family.

He is survived by his wife; five sons, Estel Mahaffey of Cochranville, Vester Mahaffey of West Jefferson, NC, Larry Mahaffey of Oxford, Ted Mahaffey of Port Deposit, MD, Quentin Hodgson of Cochranville; four daughters, Blanche Atwood of Avondale, Betty Blevins of West Grove, Volyree Smith of Nottingham and Shirley Durborow of Oxford; 51 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Joe Hodgson of Hayesville, NC; one sister, Ella Mae Roten of Laurens, SC.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Edward Couram and Garland Mahaffey.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 27, at the Edward L. Collins Funeral Home, Inc. 86 Pine St. Oxford, PA, where friends and family called from 9 to 10 a.m.

Interment was in the Kemblesville United Methodist Church Cemetery
Fannie May Argo and Robert Holland Argo were my great-grandparents. At least two of their children are missing from the memorial: Etta Reeves Argo and Pearl Argo.
