Services for Gloria "Tootsie" Alwell will be held at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville, with Reverend Richard Bushnell officiating. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery, Deville, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Pineville.
Visitation will be Monday, August 29, 2011, at Hixson Brothers, Pineville, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
Mrs. Alwell, 80, of Deville, passed away Friday, August 26, 2011, at Maison DeLafayette, Lafayette.
She was a member of Bethel Methodist Church, Deville and retired from Buckeye High School. Mrs. Alwell lived her entire life in the Deville Community and was most loved by all who had known her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Alwell; parents, Leonard and Myrtle O'Neal; son, Ralph Alwell.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, David Alwell and wife Leslie; daughter, Janet Arias and husband Jesse; daughter-in-law, Debbie Alwell; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, grandsons-in-law ad sons-in-law, Matthew Alwell, Evan Alwell, Jesse Arias, Corey Coles, Ryan Hubbard, and Jeffery Pence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Methodist Church, Deville.
