Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2011 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery with Dwain Hennessey officiating under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
The son of Catherine Petrina (Cammarata) and John Howard Wolcott, Michael was born on August 15, 1936 in Batavia, New York, where he graduated from high school.
He was a member of the New York State National Guard from February 1954 to February 1955. In February of 1955 he joined the U. S. Air Force. He served for 28 years. During that time, he served in Vietnam and retired as a SMSGT.
He married Loretta "Lori" Maye Bontrager on October 5, 1960 in Holton, Kansas. They shared their 50th Anniversary together last year with their family.
After retiring from the military, he then worked at Texas Instruments from September 1982 until the closing of the Abilene plant in May of 1993.
From that moment on he enjoyed playing and spending time with his two grandsons.
When he wasn't playing with them, he spent his time driving form store to store and town to town hunting hot wheels and bowling.
His love for life consisted of his family, friends, bowling, traveling and hot wheels.
He was preceded in death by his parents Catherine and John Wolcott; three brothers John Wolcott II, Donald Wolcott and David Wolcott.
Those left behind to cherish his memories are his wife Loretta "Lori" Maye Wolcott of Abilene; his daughter Paula Richey of Abilene; two grandsons Tyler and Tanner Richey; and three sisters Joan Watches, Mary Fitch and Donna Wolcott all of New York.
