US Congressman. Born in New Castle, Wyoming, during World War II, as a Lieutenant Colonel at age 24, he became the youngest battalion commander in the US Army. He served for five years in actions at Italy and Africa, being awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart Medal, the Legion of Merit and the Italian Cross of Valor. After the war, he became a member of the Wyoming House of Representatives, serving (1950-54). In 1955, he was elected as a Republican to the Eighty-fourth, Eighty-fifth and Eighty-sixth Congresses and served until his death. He died of a heart attack at the age of 41 in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
