Rick was born October 18, 1968, in Davenport, the son of Richard and Sally (Shaffer) Patterson. He grew up in Bettendorf and attended Pleasant Valley High School. He had worked most recently at Americold Logistics.
Rick was a lifetime Pittsburgh Steelers football fan, and also enjoyed boxing, wrestling, and other sports. He worked hard, played hard and preferred the faster lane to the safer path.
If Rick was around, you darn well knew it. His uninhibited self-expression and the unmistakable laugh that projected from his core were hard to miss. Those who knew Rick will remember his spirited character, stinging wit and dry humor. He was a genuine person, and made no apologies for his "tell it like it is" attitude.
Family and friends will dearly miss Rick and his zest for life. His sly grin and the beaming smile that became less frequent in his final days have now returned, etched forever in our memories. May he rest in peace.
Those left to honor his memory include his mother, Sally Patterson, Davenport, Iowa; his grandmother, Martha Shaffer, Davenport, Iowa, his sister, Bonnie Davidson, Pleasant Valley, Iowa; his brother, Michael Patterson, Milan, Illinois; numerous nieces and nephews; and a large extended family. His father and a sister, Bo Patterson Glines, preceded him in death.
