Mildred A. "Millie" Harrington, 84, Rapid City, died Friday, April 10, 1998, at Bella Vista Nursing Center.

She was born April 2, 1914, in Rapid City, to Joseph Herbert and Myra (Kirby) Steele.

She graduated from South Dakota State University and attended the University of Chicago School of Social Work.

She was a school teacher in eastern South Dakota and Minnesota. During World War II, she was a civilian employee for the U.S. Armed Forces in Fairbanks, Alaska.

She also worked for many years for Child Protection Services until her retirement in 1975.

She married Harvey R. Harrington in 1948. He preceded her in death in February 1986.

She is survived by her two sons; two sisters, Margie Graves of Phoenix, and Jean Imus, of Hemet, Calif.; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Visitation will be from noon until 8 p.m. Monday, April 13, at Behrens Mortuary in Rapid City.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Rapid City, with the Rev. David Cameron officiating.
