The News (Frederick, MD) - May 20, 1955

Ira Thomas Sears, well-known farmer of near Dickerson, died suddenly at the home of his brother, Edward C. Sears, near Dickerson, this morning at one o'clock. Although he had been in ill health, this death was very unexpected. Aged 78 years, he was a son of the late William T. and Sarah J. Nichols Sears and was a member of Koontz's Methodist chapel.

Surviving are two sons, Willie M. and Fulton D. Sears, both near Adamstown; a sister, Mrs. Nathan Cooley, Dickerson; his brother, Edward C. and the following grandchildren, Earl F. Sears, Brenda C. Sears, Sylvia L. and Susie Ann Sears, all of near Adamstown.

Funeral services will be held from the funeral home Monday afternoon at one o'clock. Interment in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville. Friends may call after seven o'clock Saturday evening at the funeral home, 106 East Church Street. M. R. Etchison and Son funeral directors.

Gravesite Details At her request, she was not buried with him, but is buried in Row I, Lot 20, Site 11.
