He resided in Wadsworth, Livingston County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on March 18, 1941 in Rochester, New York. He was noted as Single, without dependents.

He had family residing at 6 George, Fairport, Monroe County, New York during the war.

Ronald died in the "Line Of Duty" during a training flight on TB-26B (#42-43426) which crashed 6 miles Northwest of Benton, Louisiana during the war. The flight was out of Barksdale Field, Louisiana.

All 7 crew members died in this crash.

Wadsworth Man Killed in Plane Crash in U.S.

Military Funeral Conducted Saturday for Staff Sergeant Ronald Weller, Wadsworth Resident

Funeral services for Staff Sergeant Ronald L. Weller, 26, who lost his life in an airplane crash at Barksdale Field, Shreveport, La., Monday, November 6, 1944, were conducted Saturday afternoon from the Methodist Church at Greigsville in charge of the American Legion.

The Rev. Harold E. Blisch, pastor, assisted by the Rev. Clifford Frost of Avon, officiated. Burial was in Leicester Cemetery.

Entering the armed forces over two years ago, Sgt. Weller was an engineer-gunner of a B-24 crew, U.S. Army Air Forces and was completing his training at Barksdale Field. Details of the plane crash were not given in the official dispatch received her. Sgt. Weller was a graduate of York Central School, Greigsville, and interested in sports during his school career.

Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Thelma Hurlburt of Wadsworth; a brother, Wendell Weller of Hawthorne, Nevada; his grandfather Charles D. Weller, Sr., and an uncle, Charles Weller, Jr., both of Wadsworth.
