IOWA CITY
Paul B. Akers, 56, of 522 1/2 Bowery St., died Thursday morning at Veterans Administration Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born Nov. 1, 1929, in Morse and married Lois J. Kadera on May 10, 1969. He worked as a tree surgeon and bartender. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3949, and a member of the North Liberty American Legion Post.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Joseph of Texas; seven brothers, Delbert of Waterloo, George of West Liberty, Pat of Williamsburg, Bob of Sacramento, Calif., Lester of Creston, Joe of Short Hills, N.J. and Tom of Downers Grave, Ill.; two sisters, Mary Babbitt and Kathryn Mangin, bot of Waterloo.
Graveside services: Monday, Memory Gardens Cemetery.
