Died of Apoplexy.

Married 22 Jun 1869 Concord, Merrimack, New Hampshire to Mary Esther Hamilton.

Mabel Hamilton Chase, Mary Hamilton Chase, Henry Melville Chase Jr, and Philip Minot Chase.

Henry graduated from Dartmouth Medical School in 1863, and in Dec 1863, he was appointed assistant surgeon United States Navy. He graduated in medicine again at Medical College, University of Pennsylvania, in 1866, and the same year settled in Lawrence, Essex, Massachusetts, where he had since been in practice. Henry was a member of the Military Order Loyal legion of the United States, Commandery of Massachusetts.

Civil War:
Henry enlisted as a Private serving the Union Army on 2 May 1861 at the age of 25.. He enlisted in Company D, Vermont 1st Infantry Regiment on 9 May 1861, mustering out of service on 15 Aug 1861 at Brattleboro, Windham, Vermont. On 18 Dec 1863 he enlisted in the Navy Regiment, United States Navy where he was promoted to Full Acting Assistant Surgeon and served until his discharge on 26 Sep 1865.
