C., real estate and insurance agent; born in North Carolina Nov. 20, 1810; lived there until 20 years of age; moved to Indiana in 1830; he prepared himself for the ministry and joined the Indiana Conference, and was connected with it until 1845; he came to Iowa in 1849, and settled in Washington Co., and , on account of his health, engaged in farming; in 1861, he was appointed pastoral supply of a church for a time; he was engaged in mercantile business in Washington, Washington Co.; he came to Mt. Pleasant in 1865, and since then has been engaged in insurance and real estate business. Mr. Harbin has been married three times; he married his present wife, Catharine Brown, from Westchester, Penn., in 1862; they have one daughter--Lillia May; he has one son by his first wife, and one son and one daughter by his second wife.
