PORTLAND -- David A. Sullivan, 80, died at his home on Auburn Street on Monday, Oct. 4, 2010.
David was born in Rockland on June 6, 1930, the son of Daniel and Rosomond Dyer Sullivan and was educated in Rockland schools.
David had a long and eventful life. He joined the U.S. Army in 1947 serving in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired in October of 1970 as a Sgt. Major. Following his retirement from the Army, he worked in real estate and also as a commercial painting contractor.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman yet never had the opportunity to get his moose permit.
David was predeceased by his daughter, Roselyn Sullivan; his brother, Richard; his stepson, Ronald Strout; and mother- in-law, Emma Bradley. He is survived by his wife of over 30 years.
There will be a memorial service in celebration of his life at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, at Independent Death Care, 660 Brighton Ave., Portland. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
The family requests that donations be made to VNA-Hospice.
