James Robert Boggs, age 85, of Huntington, WV, formerly of Cross Lanes, WV, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 9, 2011 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born September 30, 1925 in Gassaway, WV, a son of Robert Lee and Arkie James Boggs.

He was also preceded in death by
his wife, Emily, of Huntington, WV;
three brothers, Harold Lee (Wilda), Lawrence Earl and John William (Rachael), all of Gassaway, WV.

After graduating from Gassaway High School in 1944, he worked for the B & O Railroad as a fireman. He left the railroad and joined the Navy serving on the USS Albany during the Korean War. During this time he met his beloved wife, Emily. He returned to Charleston, WV and went to work for Builders Lumber and Supply, while attending night classes at the Charleston School of Commerce. He then went to work for the State of West Virginia in the Finance Administration and retired twenty-nine years later as the budget director for the State of West Virginia. He was known to his co-workers as Jim and his family and friends as Bob. Jim was a member of the Masons, Nitro Lodge; the Scottish Rite, in the Valley of Charleston; and the Beni Kedem Shrine in Charleston. He loved playing golf, playing his guitar, woodworking, and fishing. Jim never knew a stranger and it was nothing to be in another state and have someone yell "Hey, Jim Boggs is that you?" He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

He is survived by
his daughter, Jody Boggs Dean (James/JJ);
his grandson, James J. Dean III;
one brother, Charles Doyle Boggs (Ethel Mae) of Gassaway;
a host of nieces and nephews;
an old Navy buddy, K. R. "Buddy" Snyder of Staunton, VA.

Services for both Jim and Emily, who passed on November 2, 2010 with the Pastor Mark Kloha officiating. Burial in Beall's Mill Cemetery in Gassaway, WV.
