OROFINO - The funeral for Nannie J. Dryden, 96 a longtime Peck resident, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Pine Hills Funeral Chapel here. The Rev. John Martin of the Orofino United Methodist Church will officiate and burial will follow at the Gilbert Cemetery. She died Monday June 25th, at Lewiston Car Center of causes related to age. She was born May 23, 1894, to Daniel and Carrie Parrish Lyle at Franklin, N.C. In 1911, the family moved to Peck, Idaho, to join physician James Lyle. She attended one year of high school at Orofino and then attended Lewis-Clark Normal school at Lewiston to earn her teaching certificate. She taught two years in one-room school on the North Fork of the Clearwater and then taught at Ahsahka and Peck. She married Thomas Floyd Dryden July 3, 1920, at Moscow. She became a homemaker while her husband spent 37 years teaching school. He died in 1979. She was a member of the Orofino-Peck United Methodist Church and served as a Sunday school teacher. Survivors include a brother William Lyle of Gig Harbor, Washington. Viewing was held from 1 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday June 27th, at the Pine Hills Funeral Chapel. The family suggests any memorials be sent to the Peck Library.
