Provided by Charles Ketchen. Quote from the Spartanburg Herald dated 8-17-1910.
"I can't fail to remember that I came very near being shot, as we were on a skirmish and enemy was waiting for me to get nearer. My friend and comrade shot him first. JAMES MOSS now of Cameron, S.C., is the man."

A stained glass window in the Cadet Chapel bears his name. Application and payment were accepted.
Windows were not "dedicated", but subjects must have attended The Citadel-graduation was not a requirement. Master designer, Howard G. Wilbert, studied the biography of each subject, and based on the career and outstanding events in their life, matched each subject with a Scriptural reference and character, ie; Elisha, Paul, David for the window scene. Further research is needed to determine who Mr. Wilbert matched with James Michael Moss.
