PALMER - Irma Helen Sharp, 95, of 106 Nicholas Ave., Palmer, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side at 2:40 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at the Eastwood Nursing Center where she had resided since August, 2008.

Irma was born November 3, 1915, in Palmer to Axel and Hilda (Koistinen) Lahti, attended Palmer Schools and was a lifelong Palmer resident. She was a member of Mitchell United Methodist Church, Negaunee and was a former member of the Palmer Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School in Palmer for many years and was also a former member of the Palmer Ladies Club. Irma was an avid reader. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughter, Sandra (Art Howard) Dees of Palmer; 3 sons: Joseph (Betty Grace) Sharp of Corryton, TN, Rodney (Kristina) Sharp of Marquette and Jeffrey (Bernadette) Sharp of Gwinn; 11 grandchildren: Jason (Dawn) Dees, Frances Long, Christine (Paul) Hensley, Cindy (John) Dorn, Gregory (Kerri) Sharp, Amy (David) Cardinal, Lisa (Robert) Strohm, Lindsay Heino, Stanley and Donny McClurg, and Naomi (Matt) Kempinen; 28 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Irma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence (Bud) Sharp in 1989; 3 sisters: Elma Blanchette, Vieno Hutchinson and Elaine Pepin, and a brother, John Lahti.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Mitchell United Methodist Church, Negaunee with the Rev. Douglas E. Mater officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery.
