The following obituary that was published 15 Oct 1931 in the San Saba News.
Our community was thrown in a pall of sorrow last Monday afternoon when the sad news arrived that our dear friend, Nathan Blassingame had died. Uncle Nate, as he was lovingly called, had spent most of his life here but had lived in Brownwood the past several years. He was born July 4, 1864. His body was tenderly laid to rest in the Locker cemetery amidst a large crowd of sorrowful friends. The floral offering was beautiful and each small flower was an expression of love and honor.
Funeral services were held by Rev. J. B. Stanford of the Central Methodist church of Brownwood.
Pall bearers were Earl Parks, Geo. Johnson, H. M Taylor, Stanley Nolan, Jodie King, T. J. Stewart and Tom Nolan.
