Marguerite was born in Mont Belvieu, Texas on December 5, 1928, the daughter of the late George Rupert and Hester Bell (Fulsher) Hendrix.
Marguerite was a housewife, worked at Gibson's for six years and at Dennis Processing for fifteen years. She taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church in Columbus from the mid-1950's until 1992.
She is survived by one son, Lex "Skippy" Sutton, Jr. and wife, Ruby of Ellinger; one daughter, Lurraine "Rainey" Schmidt of Fayetteville; two sisters: Elaine Shows of Davilla and Patsy Howard of Freeport; four grandchildren: Billy Schmidt and wife, Tammy of Weimer, Matthew Schmidt and wife, Jovana of Royce City, Chris Sutton and wife, Brandie of Austin and Jessica Marguerite Spanihel and husband, Elroy of Fayetteville; two step grandchildren: Paul Smith and wife, Donna and Tiffany Thompson and husband, Chris all of Brenham; 14 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Laverne Dennis Kirschke and husband, W.L. of La Grange; and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 52 years, William "Bill" Dennis; two brothers: George Rupert "GR" and Billy Gene Hendrix; daughter-in-law, JoAnne Sutton; son-in-law, Nelson Schmidt; and first grandchild, Dana Darlene.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 18, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Zaskoda Chapel in Industry. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at West End Baptist Church in Industry at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 with Pastor Dennis Keen officiating. Burial will follow at Haw Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley of La Grange, 1048 N. Jefferson, La Grange, TX 78945 or West End Baptist Church, 7577 Ernst Parkway, Industry, TX 78944.
