She always considered herself a lifelong resident of Aiken, being raised here by her mother Anna Lebby Rhodes and father Wilson E. Prothro and stepfather William R. Rhodes. She attended Ashley Hall and Winthrop College. She met Everett F. (Bode) Bodendorf in Washington, DC at a YWCA dance and married soon after in Falls Church, VA. They were married 58 years during which they had many more dances and quite a few children.
She is survived by her husband, Bode; her children Fred M. Bodendorf, Greensboro, NC, Robert H. Bodendorf, Orange, VA, Anna Lebby B. Guire, Jacksonville, FL and Julia Prothro B. Hassler, Neptune Beach, FL, and their spouses.
She was preceded in taking the next step by her son Jon Everett Bodendorf. She has 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Bing was an avid tennis player and also loved the ocean. Bing had a deep appreciation for nature all her life and passed this love to her children. She had a heart as big as the ocean and a spirit in the sky, which is where we are sure she now resides.
