Robert G. "Bob" Harris, age 82, died at home on Thursday, January 29, 1998 surrounded by his family. Bob was born on April 16, 1915 in St. Johns, MI, the son of the late Carl J. and Catherine (McCarthy) Harris. He attended the St. Johns Schools and married Mabel L. Waidelich on August 16, 1937 in St. Johns. Bob was a mint farmer, growing peppermint and spearmint on various farms in Sun Prairie and St. Johns, MI. While in Michigan, Bob also worked as Deputy Sheriff in Clinton County. He attended the Sun Prairie United Methodist Church and was a 40-year member of the Sun Prairie Lions Club, where he had served as President, Secretary, and Treasurer. He was an avid golfer and hunter. Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be deeply missed by his loving family. He is survived by his wife, Mabel; two daughters, Louise (Bruce) Aderhold of Baraboo and Marilyn (Joseph) Branski of Delafield; a son, Richard (Carolyn) of Waunakee; seven grandchildren, Amy (Shawn) Bell, Bryan Aderhold, Kathy (John) Micka, Mike Branski, Julie, Kelly, and Laura Harris; two great-grandchildren, Sam and Jack Micka; and a sister, Eileen Taylor of Livonia, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Thomas; and a sister, Margaret Schafer. Funeral services will be held at the Sun Prairie United Methodist Church, 702 North St. on Monday, February 2, 1998 at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Ross Oestreich officiating. Burial will follow in Sun Prairie Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 1, 1998 at the funeral home in Madison, where a Lions Service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. by the Sun Prairie Lions Club. The family suggests that memorials be directed to the Sun Prairie United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society. WSJ 1/31/1998
