The Olin Recorder gives an account of the death of Mrs. Solomon Garrison, Dec. 9th, at Coggon, Iowa, where she had been residing with her daughter, Mrs. A. D. Hunt, since 1891. Her maiden name was Harriet Hinkly Simpson and she was born March 28, 1821, near Cincinnati, Ohio. January 27, 1841, she married Mr. Solomon Garrison and they came west and located near Olin, twelve years later moving to Onion Grove and in 1869 making their home at Pleasant Hill this county. In 1883 they moved to Reynolds, Neb., three of their children having preceded them. There Mr. Garrison died March 2d, 1891. Mrs. Garrison was the mother of eight children, two of whom died in infancy. Those living are Mrs. Sorena Ashby, of Coggon, Iowa; W. S. Garrison, of Wyoming, Iowa; T. J. Garrison, of Dennison, Iowa, G. R. Garrison, of Oxford, Nebraska. L. L. Garrison, of Lincoln, Nebraska: and Mrs. A. D. Hunt, of Coggon, Iowa. All these except T. J. and G. The deceased, soon after marriage, united with the Wesleyan Methodist church and remained a true follower of her Savior, always witnessing to her faith and love. The funeral services were held at her home in Coggon, Friday, December 10, 1903, at 10 o'clock A. M, conducted by the Rev. H. E. Wilcox, pastor of the M. E. church at Olin assisted by the Rev. Dr. M. H. Smith, of the Coggon M. E. church. The body was laid to rest in the Coggon cemetery.
