Victor H. Overman of Brownsburg, Indiana died Monday August 22, 2011. He was 88.

Mr. Overman served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and then graduated from Ball State University in 1946. He was a teacher and coach for 36 years at Westfield, Rochester, Franklin College, Michigan City, and Mishawaka, before retiring from Brownsburg High School as head football coach.

Following retirement, he coached Brownsburg Junior Football and served 12 years as a member of the Brownsburg School Board. He also worked as a greeter at the Brownsburg Wal-Mart store.

Mr. Overman was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Indiana Football Hall of Fame, Ball State Athletic Hall of Fame, Michigan City High School Football Hall of Fame, and was named a Sagamore of the Wabash and BSU Alumni Football Coach of the Year.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Suzanne Rapp Overman; children Daniel (Mary), Nancy Overman Johnson, David (Debbie), Robert (Paula), and Mary Ann (William) Zweige; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services are 11:30 a.m. Saturday August 27, 2011 at Calvary United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Calling is from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg and from 10:25 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
