Maj. Bernard W. Green, USMC, was killed April 15, 1945, during the battle of Okinawa. Major Green entered the marine corp Nov. 4, 1940 following his graduation from St. Joseph's College. After being commissioned at Quantico, he seved with an amphibious tractor unit, the famed Carlson Raiders, and the Regimental Weapons Co. In 1944 ge was given command of the first battalion, fourth marines, sixth division. He was awarded the presidential citation, the bronze star, the silver star for conspicuous bravery on Guam, and the bronze star with combat V posthumously.
