Born Dunfermline, Fife Scotland, son of Robert Morrison and Mary Manclark. Father died in 1867. For a brief period Alexander was an "inmate" in the Dumfermline Poor House. Alexander and his sister Ann came to U.S. in 1871 arriving on the Alglia Sept. 16 NYC. Lived and worked on farms of relatives in w. PA who were also related to Andrew Carnegie. Alexander remembered Andrew Carnegie viaiting the farm of his Uncle John. There is reason to believe that Alexander was a cousin of Carnegie. Worked in the logging industry in n. central PA and briefly in Russell Co. VA. Married Elizabeth J.Foust and raised five children.
