Joseph Lee Bittiker, 92, of Independence, Missouri, passed away August23, 2011. Funeral service will be 11:00am Saturday, August 27, 2011 at DW Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel, 509 S. Noland Rd., Independence, Mo. Burial with full military honors to follow at Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, Saturday at the Funeral Home. Joseph was born April 7, 1919 in Indian Grove, Missouri to Fred Oliver and Darlene (Emrieh) Bittiker. He was a machinist for Standard Oil, Campbell Soup and then The US Postal Service where he served as the Union Steward. He served his country proudly during WWII and was a veteran of the US Navy, serving on the USS Ray as well as the USS Boleo. He was a Mason for over 50 years, went through both The York Rite and The Scottish Rite and was a member of Ararat Shrine Temple. He was a member of Beacon Heights Community of Christ. Joseph was preceded into death by his parents, wife, Flora and 2 brothers; Bob in 1965 and Ray in 1983. He is survived by 1 Sister; Marge Kimak of Independence, Mo and several nieces and nephews to include, Ray Hilliard, Freddy Kimak, Johnny Kimak as well as Freddy Bittiker and his wife Connie and Great Niece and Nephew: Megan Bittiker and Cole Bittiker.
