Frederick served as a Private First Class, 70th Infantry Division, in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Avon, Livingston County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on October 22, 1942 in Rochester, New York. He was noted as being employed as a Waiter and also as Single, without dependents.

He died as a result of a "Non Battle" related incident during the war.

A memorial mass was celebrated on Aug 13 at St. Agnes Church, Avon, for PFC Frederick V. Moran, who was killed near Schmitten, Germany on July 20.

PFC Moran served in the infantry with the 78th Division and saw action in Belgium, Holland and Germany during the last six months of the European conflict. Six days previous to his death he was transferred to the 70th Division for patrol work with the Corps of Military Police.

PFC Moran is the second son of Mrs. Frank Moran to give his life in the present war, his brother, Ensign James Moran having been killed in a plane crash on September 4, 1943. A third son, Sgt William Moran has only recently returned to this country after two and a half years service overseas.

Surviving besides his mother and brother are three other brothers, and five sisters.
