Jack Lloyd Wilson was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. At the time he was a member of one of the only two Roman Catholic families living in the city. Shortly after his birth his family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, where he was raised. A mixture of intellectual and hellraiser, Wilson found himself during World War II, when he served with distinction in the Army Air Force as a B-29 radio operator during numerous raids over Japan. After the war, he settled down with his war bride Mary Jane Wilson (married in 1944) and started a career as an engineer, most of which time was spent working with Sandia Labs in New Mexico and California. He and his wife had five children during their fifty-five years of marriage. Wilson was also a learned theologian and remained active in the military, mostly in the intelligence field, up until his retirement from Sandia in 1980 at which time he returned to Indiana and settled in Greencastle to research his family geneaology. He was loved by all who knew him for his quick wit and outgoing ways.
