Virginia Mae Watson, 91, of Three Oaks, Michigan died Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at LaPorte Hospital.

Virginia was born November 18, 1919 to Silven O. and Minnie M. (Coppess) Babcock in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. She earned her teaching degree from Michigan State University in 1942 and on October 10, 1943 she married Richard H. Watson. Virginia assisted Richard with the Dairy farm and Watson's Orchards in Rolling Prairie, Indiana where they made their home for 50 years. She taught school for 30 years at Galena School. Virginia was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association, the LaPorte County Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma and the LaPorte County Homemakers. Virginia was a member of the Olive Branch United Methodist Church in Galien, and a member of its Sonja Circle of Olive Branch Church.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Rex Truhn of Galien, Michigan; nephew Richard G. Babcock of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and William and Rhoda Herda of Riverside, Illinois. Her husband, Dick, preceded her in death on July 27, 2005.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am (Michigan Time) on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Pobocik Funeral Home, Three Oaks with the Reverend Robert W. Behrle officiating. Interment will follow at Rolling Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call 5:00 – 9:00 pm (Michigan Time) on Friday at the funeral home.
