Theodore "Ted" Ross Miller, 83, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Orem on August 14, 2011. He was born May 4, 1928 in Salt Lake City to William Christian and Mary Eva Brady Miller. He was the second of seven children.

He spent his youth in Delta, moving to Spanish Fork, where he graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1946. Married his sweetheart Nila Jean Brown on September 21, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had four children.

Ted worked with his father in a electrical business in Orem, then moved to Seattle where he worked 14 years for the Boeing Company.

He returned to Orem in 1970 where he was employed by BYU for 22 years. For 18 years while at BYU, he was the official electronic timer (Accutrack) for the track program. He timed two NCAA championships, several WAC championships and traveled throughout the state as the official timer for high school track meets. He was very talented with his hands. He built an addition to their home, renovated their kitchen building his own cabinets, added a stone-face fireplace and built many pieces of beautiful furniture.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many positions, including councilor in three bishoprics and Bishop of the Orem 4th Ward. He loved missionary work. He served in the Hawaiian Islands, on two Stake Missions, and his sweet wife on a CES mission in the Republic of Kiribati. He was very proud of his sons, sons-in-law, and grandsons who have served missions all over the world.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, his children David (Linda) of Clifton, Virginia, Rick (Mary) of Lehi, Utah, Debbie Monsen (Ron) of Richfield, Utah and Terri Lynne McMurtry (Gene) of American Fork, Utah, twenty grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Also survived by his five brothers and one sister.

The family would like to thank Alpine Hospice for their wonderful care of their husband and father, as well as cherished neighbors for their friendships and support.
