Mr. J.E. was born in Hampton County. He was the son of the late William E. Johnson Sr. and Sarah Catherine Smith Johnson. He was a farmer, a member,deacon, and trustee of Luray Christian Church and also a former member of Hampton County Council. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Debbie Dobson Johnson, one daughter, Lucille J. Kinard (Will), One son William (Billy) Johnson, three foster sons, Raymond, Don, and Roger Belger, two brothers, W. E. Johnson Jr. and W. Aiken Johnson,one sister Mrs. Addie Mae Fennell and 11 grandchildren.
