John W. Reynolds,92, of Madison died.
Was native of Gainesville, Ga. and son of Wiley Allen and Thaney Hulsey Reynolds. He lived in Oconee for 71 years. He was a school teacher for 17 years and mail carrier for 27 years. Was a gospel singer and songwriter and served as president of local and state singing conventions.
Mr. Reynolds was the president of the S.C. Rural Letter Carriers Association, Deacon, Choir Director, Superintendent of S.S. and a teacher at Madison Baptist Church.
Surviving: son John Allen Reynolds and daughter Mrs. Pauline Ridgeway, both of the home. Two grandchildren, four great grandchildren.
Pallbearers: Bill Jordan, Kenneth Cobb, L.B. Walters, Gene and Wayne Sheriff.

John Wiley Reynolds married Lillie Frances Cobb, daughter of Rev. Roland and Mary Hughes Cobb, on July 2, 1896, in the Cobb Home on the Horse Shoe Bend,Chauga Creek below the historic Horseshoe Robinson place. They were married by Rev. J.H. Stone. Four children were born: 3 sons and 1 daughter. Glenn H. Reynolds (oldest) was accidentally killed building power dam on Tugaloo River when 24 leaving a widow and son.
Ernest Hughes Reynolds died at age 13 months. Pauline Reynolds married Ben F. Cleland. John Allen Reynolds resided in Madison.
John W. Reynolds was educated in Hall County's best schools and taught school at Toxaway, Holly Springs, Long Creek, Neville, Clearmount, Return, Rich Mtn., and others.
