John Walfred Anderson has crossed into the sunset of his earthly day just as he entered the prime of life. He was not yet 50 years of age. A cerebral hemorrhage cut his life span short very suddenly on Friday, Sept 1. He was residing at the summer home of Mr. N. O. Johnson at Lindstrom.

The life-long distinguishing characteristic of John Anderson was his utter unselfishness which made him forget himself always and reach out his hand in help to others before he even considered himself. In the world where self invariably comes first, the unselfishness of John Anderson sets him apart and leaves behind him, a memory of good deeds in which human beings always were helped and warmed with the kindliness of the deceased. When it was a friend, John Anderon would many times give of his labor and his skill and refuse payment for his labor. He was a fine human being, every inch of him.

John Walfred Anderson was born in Almelund, Chisago County, on Dec 27, 1895. when he was but an infant of 12 months, he moved with his parents from Almelund to Sunrise. His parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Anderson

John spent his childhood and grew to manhood at Sunrise. For a period he was in partnership with Elmer Erickson at the Sunrise sawmill. He also did a great deal of road construction work. During the last 15 years, he has worked as a steam shovel operator for companies all over the nation. He spent nearly two full years at Newfoundland in the construction of airbases. During the last year, he has been employed as a steam shovel operator for a Minneapolis firm with operations in the northern part of the state.

John Anderson was confirmed in 1910 by Rev. Stenborg.

He was a member of the Masons. Zion Lodge No 55 conducted services at the interment at Fairview Cemetery. The funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Sept 5. Selections were sung by a niece of John Anderson, namely Mrs. Richard Gilbert of Robbinsdale, MN accompanied by Paul Bloom at the organ.

John Anderson is survived by his sisters, Mrs. Albert Ronquist and Mrs. Arthur Carlson of St. Paul and Mrs. Eric Norrel of Minneapolis and two brothers namely: Arthur on the home farm and Oscar of Minneapolis. Besides the fore-mentioned survivors are 14 nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He had that rare and fine gift, a genius for making friends.

Those who carried him to his earthly couch at the Lindstrom cemetery were: Oscar Larson; Harry Laarson, Allen Wahlgren, Paul Harmes, Cyrus Lent, and Paul Johnson.

A real friend to all mankind has departed. The earth is happier John Walfred Anderson lived.
